Susan Leeder has invited UUFDC community members to hear an educational talk about honeybees at her farm on Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m. We will discuss the honeybees and their social structure, view the hive equipment and see pictures of the honey extraction process. If weather permits, we will walk out to see one of the hives, from a distance. Plan on 1 1/2 to 2 hours and wear comfortable walking shoes.
The 2011 honey harvest will start at the end of July and raw, local honey should be available by mid-August.
Please sign up in advance by contacting Helene, helenediu@hotmail.com or 854-2312. If more than about 10 – 12 people express an interest, a second session will be added at 3:00 p.m.
