May 20 – The Rev. Karen Hering

Karen Hering

REVERENCE FOR LIFE

Twentieth century humanitarian, medical doctor and minister Albert Schweitzer described the cornerstone of his ethical system with the phrase, “Reverence for Life,” which he said calls us into spiritual relationship with the universe. What might “Reverence for Life” mean today and how can we awaken it and accept its invitation into more connected living?

The Rev. Karen Hering serves as consulting literary minister at Unity Church-Unitarian, in St. Paul, Minnesota, offering guided writing sessions and other opportunities for engaging the written word as a spiritual practice and a tool for social action.
