The Emerson Series is pleased to present a program on music and spirituality featuring Norwegian pianist Knut Erik Jensen on Saturday, November 17 at 3:30 pm. The 90-minute program will be followed by a complimentary reception. Admission is $10 at the door.
Jensen has performed over 100 solo concerts featuring Norwegian and international music on the North American continent since 2007. He has recorded two CDs of Norwegian piano music: “Edvard Grieg – Anniversary Collection” and “Nordic Elegance.” Mr. Jensen’s unusually rich musical background has given him versatility in many different genres and instruments from organ, classical accordion, piano, and saxophone to rock, jazz, klezmer, and gypsy orchestra.
Knut Erik was born in the small town of Hell in 1981, grew up in Selbu and had Trondheim as a home-base during his years of studies. He was an artist-in-residence at the renowned Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada in February 2008 as well as during the fall and winter of 2009-10. Since then he has been performing concerts throughout the United States with Palm Springs, California as a home base. Recent engagements include performances of the Grieg concerto with the Saratoga Chamber Orchestra in Washington in February 2011. Jensen currently works as an accompanist and vocal coach and is the Music Director of the International Opera Institute of California (IOI). Future engagements include a solo tour in China in 2014-15, tours with his multi-instrument concept “the Knut Experience”, and a program on music and spirituality to be performed for free-thinking communities and Unitarian churches around the country.
