Emerson Concert Presents Patchouli

The UU Education and Enrichment committee is excited to announce the next Emerson event. On Friday, October 4, the classically trained duo known as Patchouli will perform at 7 pm. Admission is just $10 and the concert will be followed by a complimentary reception.

You may already be familiar with this duo. They have played at the Peg Egan Center and at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor. Award winning songwriter Julie Patchouli and master guitarist Bruce Hecksel light up the air with sparkling acoustic sounds and their powerful contagious chemistry. Famous for that smiling voice that instantly turns a bad day into a good one, Patchouli’s down-to-earth, hopeful songwriting is “New American Folk” blending elements of folk, pop, flamenco and jazz with world beat rhythms. Patchouli’s sound has been described as “the harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel meet the guitar brilliance of the Gipsey Kings”.

Fourteen years of non-stop, national touring has honed this duo into legendary performers, dubbed the “hardest working folk duo in America”. With 16 CDs, Patchouli is as busy in the studio as they are on the road. Their performance at the UUFDC will feature their very own brand of original modern folk music as well as music from the Terra Guitarra CD’s, their all instrumental, Spanish-style guitar project.

Mark this date on your calendar now. You won’t want to miss this concert.
