John Patrick Redell (Jack) will be the featured poet in the UU Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series on October 9 at 7:00 pm.
Although his path is one of constant learning, Jack Redell knows that life is filled with false trails and dead ends. He enjoys the process of making a choice and usually has learned to live with the decision and the inevitable mistakes. Even a life filled with wrong turns can be fun. One correct turn led him to Door County, along with a partner and his first dog. He calls both Egg Harbor and Sister Bay home. Doubt has been his best teacher.
Redell’s poetry reflects both the successful and disappointing observations in his life. A retired construction worker, who has surveyed and engineered, he knows the cost of a mistake. The dirt that accumulated under his fingernails earned him the financial means to get to Door County and enjoy friendships with some great poets and writers as well as some great mentoring.
Some of his stuff has been published in the Peninsula Pulse and N.E.W. Voices and other publications too innumerable to mention. He knows where the goalposts are and although it’s the second half, he still has three timeouts left.
