UU Gallery Exhibits Shades of Nature

Linda Brown of Evanston, Illinois, will exhibit her acrylic paintings at the UU Gallery during the month of October.  An opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm.  The public is invited.

Brown says that she “emphasizes allusions in nature, water, and Midwestern seasons, telling a visual story about life and the outdoors”. Vibrant and bold colors are evident in her paintings. Brown uses bold and light colors to capture fleeting moments in nature, landscapes and the joy of life; she specializes in acrylics because they allow her freedom of brush strokes and texture.

With a deep interest in her Irish roots, Linda creates many pieces depicting the beauty of the country and people of Ireland.  She paints the meadows, valleys, cottages and seascapes in tonal detail, yet captures a feeling of nostalgia through the illusive light and color of Ireland.

Born in Chicago, raised in Oconomowoc, Linda received her BA degree from the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Secondary Art Education. She opened her own studio, “Shades of Nature” in Waukesha.   Linda relocated to the Chicago area in 1996 and pursues painting as a hobby.

Gallery hours are 1-3 pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11am-12:30 pm Sunday, or by appointment.
