The UU Fellowship and Write On, Door County! are co-sponsoring a writing workshop, Transformation in the world and in our lives: Writing Our Way toward a New Day, on Sunday February 23 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. The workshop fee is $10; advanced registration before Friday, February 21 is appreciated. All are welcome!

As we look forward toward the weeks when winter will slowly give way to spring, we might recall the words of poet Wendell Berry paying homage to the transformation occurring in the natural world: “bud opening to flower / opening to fruit opening / to the sweet marrow / of the seed.” This afternoon invites you to witness and pay homage to the transformative forces moving within our world and also in your own heart and life. For writers and nonwriters alike, this is a chance to explore both the possibilities and the challenges that transformation presents.

The workshop is presented by literary minister and chaplain Karen Hering, author of Writing to Wake the Soul: Opening the Sacred Conversation Within, published by Atria Books of Simon & Schuster and Beyond Words in 2013. Her consulting literary ministry, rooted at Unity-Church Unitarian in St. Paul, presents programs and retreats that engage writing as a spiritual practice and a tool for social action. She also serves as a chaplain for Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin. Learn more about Karen, her ministry and her book at www.karenhering.com. She will be the guest speaker at the UU Fellowship the morning of February 23.

To register for the workshop: sign up in the Fellowship lobby or via contact@uufdc.org.
