An art educator retired from Whitefish Bay, Julia has been involved in the arts in Door County since she came in 1970 to attend the Peninsula School of Art. She has spent every summer and most weekends here since then, and has owned property from 1977 to the present.
She was an active member of the Peninsula Art School Board of Directors from 1985-99, serving as Chair for 6 years and also teaching classes there. She also taught at the Clearing in the Winter program and served on the Hardy Gallery Board of Directors from 2000-2006 and 2010-2015. She is presently the curator of the UUFDC gallery, and she teaches in the Door County Learning in Retirement program. Her art may be seen at Woodwalk Gallery.
Julia’s eclectic collection in this exhibit embodies her fascination with pattern, color and composition. Whether she uses acrylic, pen and ink, printmaking, or mixed media, she organizes the values and shadow that play upon form to create both abstract and realistic works of art.
You are invited to a reception for the artist on Sunday, November 20 from noon until 2 pm.
