Donna moved to Door County in 2012 and immediately felt “at home”. She quickly immersed herself in the rich arts community, volunteering for music, theater, and performing arts organizations. She is a published poet, a member of the Belles Lettres poetry group, an actor in community theater, sings in two choirs, and plays the bodhran (Irish flat drum) for Irish music sessions and contra dances. She is a Board Member of the Door County Folk Alliance.

Donna joined We Are HOPE, Inc. in January 2019. She has had an extensive career in working for non-profits, starting as a meeting planning professional and progressing to positions in office administration and development/fundraising. Her professional life started in Chicago working for associations, a corporation, third-party planners, an oncology research organization, and a brief stint as a free-lance meeting planner. She was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a Certified Travel Ambassador class as part of her first job in Door County, and has continued that certification ever since. She is also a member of the Door Community Non-Profit Group and served two years as president of the organization. She was given the opportunity to participate in Leadership Door County, graduating in June 2017.

About Dickinson Poetry Series: On the second Wednesday of every month the Dickinson Poetry Series features a renowned local or regional poet followed by an open mic, providing an opportunity for others to read their poetry. A reception follows affording an opportunity to meet the poets. The Series is named for Emily Dickinson, a prolific poet and philosophically in tune with Unitarian beliefs. The public is welcome and there is no charge. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. For more information call (920) 854-7559.
