Cancelled – Dickinson Poetry This Evening, April 3rd

Our April Dickinson Poetry Reading with Ethel & Thomas Davis has been cancelled, due to weather conditions. Stay safe everyone


On the FIRST Wednesday of the month, at 7pm, the Dickinson Poetry Series highlights a renowned local or regional poet. The reading is followed by an open mic that allows others to read their work and a reception with the poets. A reception in our Art Gallery/Gathering Room follows the reading.

Ethel Mortenson Davis & Thomas Davis – Admired Poet Laureates of Door County

Ethel Mortenson Davis is a poet and artist that majored in art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She has published six books of poetry and shown her art work in small galleries.  Her book, Under the Tail of the Milky Way Galaxy was recognized by the Wisconsin Library Association as a Notable Book of Poetry by a Wisconsin Poet.

Thomas Davis’s latest book is a fantasy novel, Juniper’s Dragon, which is a companion book to his epic poem, The Weirding Storm, A Dragon Epic. He has won different literary awards, including the Edna Ferber Fiction Award for his novel, In the Unsettled Homeland of Dreams. In addition to his writing, he was the President or Chief Academic Officer of five tribal colleges or universities.  He helped start the College of the Menominee Nation in Keshena, Wisconsin and also helped found the World Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium and the Advanced Networking for Minority Serving Colleges and Universities.
