Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock (2017, 89 minutes) will be shown Tuesday, March 20 at 4:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County. Dr. Brian Allen Drake author of Loving Nature, Fearing the State, described the film as “a lovely meditation on the importance of place, spirituality, and community for modern Native Americans. It is also a sobering reminder that dispossession and injustice at the hands of governments and private interests, so much a part of Native America’s past, continue to this day. Future environmental activists will find it an inspiring example of peaceful organizing for resistance and change.” Activists of all causes will find this film inspiring.

About the Movies that Matter Series: The film is part of the UUFDC’s monthly Movies That Matter series examining a wide range of issues. The free screenings are followed by a discussion. The series invites consciousness and intellectual inquiry, which is philosophically in tune with Unitarian Universalists beliefs. The UUFDC Fellowship is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim.
