Dismantling Ableism: A Rallying Call For Allies with Pey Carter

Most people know that June is Pride Month celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community but few people know that July is Disability Pride Month.  Join guest speaker, Pey Carter, as they discuss the great difference between the two including the level of support from allies along with their recent experiences with ableism and ableist language.

Pey Carter is the Interim LGBTQIA+ Coordinator at UW-Stout and a life coach at Free Spirit Coaching. They just graduated from Iliff School of Theology with a Master of Divinity with a focus in social justice and ethics and completed a two-year ministerial internship at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Eau Claire, WI. They are currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry Social Transformation program at the United Seminary of the Twin Cities. Pey has over 12 years of advocacy experience in the areas of disability, queer liberation, and trauma. They have guest preached at over 35 congregations across North America and presented at the MidAmerica Regional Assembly and General Assembly.
