Mauree Childress received her Art and Education degrees from UW-La Crosse. She taught art, then worked in television stations in Milwaukee and Green Bay, the Green Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross and, lastly, the Neville Public Museum of Brown County. Her art was mainly in textiles. In 2013, she had an incomplete spinal cord injury, was paralyzed from the waist down and could no longer do textiles. So, she started painting again. She lives in Milwaukee, works on her mobility, paints, and is a docent at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
