We Amplify!
Door County Amplify is the development of artists Lachrisa Grandberry and Molly Rhode, known for their work at Northern Sky Theater. In 2021, the duo created a community Facebook page to celebrate the work of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) artists who work in Door County. Grandberry illuminates, “The Door County Amplify project is the response of two friends who wanted to do something valuable ‘right here and right now’ in reaction to the cultural awakening that 2020 gifted us. We realize we can’t rescue the world of its failures, but we can do our part, wherever we are, to spread light and love, lift others, and celebrate great art. The initiative is a modest and simple effort to embrace our shared humanity.”
Lachrisa Grandberry is a passionate, activist who was recently named one of Wisconsin’s 52 Most Influential Black Leaders. She is a trailblazer in her profession as an actress, singer, playwright, composer, teacher, and program director. She serves on Northern Sky Theater’s IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Solutions) Task Force. She is also the Program Director of the organization’s newly formed NOVA (Nurturing Original Voices and Artists) Initiative. She is “Passionate about people. Passionate about living in a world that embraces everyone’s differences. Passionate about healing. Passionate about learning.”
