POETRY SUNDAY

Here in Door County, we live on land that was once home to Woodland people–Anishinaabe, Iroquoian and Siouan tribes who hunted, fished and  traded along and across the Great Lakes–but aside from a few place names, their descendants, cultures and ideas have become nearly invisible here. The gallery exhibit for March brings photos of Ojibwe women and men who walked for the preservation of fresh water in 2015, and in June, the Dickinson Series will host Ojibwe poet Denise Sweet (the second Poet Laureate of Wisconsin). On Poetry Sunday, Door County poets will present original poems in which they explore experiences and ideas that are part of the deeper history of the land we also call home. Participants will include Sharon Auberle, Ethel Davis, Tom Davis, Larry Eriksson, Donna Johnson, Estella Lauter, Ralph Murre, Nancy Rafal, Jack Redell, Mark Richards and Meg Ziegelmann.

Music: Carol Boyd
