In our quest for truth, we have become obsessed with ‘facts’. Our conversations leave little room for complexity or nuance. We are the society of the ‘sound-byte’. In so doing, our circles of friendship become meager- consisting only of people whose language we can bear. For all others, we either speak our truth loudly or avoid difficult conversations. But, there is a more ‘excellent way’: To speak our truth and be heard, to share in transcendent meaning. That way is through story-telling. Pastor Dawn will explore the richness and variety of ancient and modern stories… and a path forward for us to reclaim the true art of conversation.
Dawn Volpe is the pastor of Ephraim Moravian Church. A native New Yorker, she served churches in the Bronx and the suburbs of Washington, DC before moving to Door County in 2010. She and her husband of 26 years, Bob, are the parents of Robert, an artist and musician, living in Illinois. The Volpes enjoy walks with their 4-legged daughter, Sushi. Bob responds to medical and fire emergencies as part of the Ephraim and Gibraltar fire departments. Dawn has made the rounds of the restaurants here in Door County and loves to chat with residents over coffee!
