Rev. Cynthia JohnsonI came really close to naming the two recently-hatched bald eagles at the National Arboretum. Sunlight and Shadow. So perfect, I thought. But then, I probably should have noticed when the contest closed.

I console myself with William Blake’s wisdom:

[We were] made for joy and woe
Then when this we rightly know
Through the world we safely go.
Joy and woe are woven fine
A clothing for the soul to bind.

Cynthia Johnson, a retired Unitarian Universalist minister who served UU congregations in Texas and Oklahoma, joined UUFDC in 2000 when she and Al moved to Door County. Cynthia is active as an artist and a poet. She enjoys family and friends, nature, travel, and reading and writing.
