SRC is concerned about the world-wide refugee crisis and has sought an organization which responds most appropriately to such crises. IRC is just such an organization! Founded in 1931 by Albert Einstein, among others, it has been rescuing and resettling refugees from all over the world ever since.

The activities of IRC encompass “rescue” to resettlement. It has teams of disaster experts stationed around the world to respond to crises within 48 hours. They assess/ triage and then call-in follow-up teams for feeding, shelter, water, sanitation and education. The organization is particularly noted for protection of women and children who are the most vulnerable. In refugee camps they provide, in addition to basic necessities, youth education and recreation programs. When refugees are able to relocate, IRC assists travel and resettlement at new sites, including housing, jobs, cultural acclimatization, and economic assistance. It is a truly start to finish operation, currently active in 40 countries and 22 states in the US.

IRC is not afraid of advocacy and has battled political oppression, racism, and sexism throughout its history. Currently, it is fighting against the anti-immigrant/ anti-refugee activities of some nations. It has powerful advocates on its Board of Overseers such as Madeline Albright, Colin Powell, Henry Kissinger, Liv Ullman, and Elie Weisel. It is a top-rated charity: 4- star Charity Navigator and Top 10 Gold Charity of Fortune 500. It deserves our support. Please give generously!
