Economic Justice Action Team
The Economic Justice Action team was created with the passion to respond in decreasing the growing income/wealth gap in the United States. We advance UU Principles in our community by organizing and uniting others around economic issues. Through just economic education and advocacy, our work promotes:
- the inherent worth and dignity of every person;
- justice equity;
- compassion in human relations;
- free and responsible search for truth.
We foster a continual conversation about economic justice by coordinating opportunities for open-minded discussion; such as workshops, educational videos screenings, and writing to local newspapers.
The attendance of our events includes members of UUFDC and diverse members of the Door County community. Our workshops have drawn between 25 – 40 people a session! We regularly work with other organizations in Door County and beyond, such as St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, and Ephraim Moravian Church, and the Unitarian Universalists for a Just Economic Community (UUJEC) (uujec.com).
The team meets monthly to strategize and plan their next actions. All are welcome to join in the action. To find out more contact Jim Black, justice@uufdc.org .
