This presentation delves into the captivating realm of the uttermost part of the earth, Patagonia, Argentina, where bandits were once welcomed, where communities of Welsh immigrants thrive, and where the environment is a testament to the enduring coexistence of humanity and nature.

Gustavo Fares is a native from Argentina. He is Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Lawrence University (2000-). He is the author of several books, and was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (2004, Mendoza, Argentina). He recently traveled to Patagonia with his wife Lori, and his presentation will touch upon his first-hand knowledge of the region.
