Moment of Silence

Rik was a treasured friend of our UU Fellowship. He was an insightful and entertaining speaker who had the ability to reduce complex issues to understandable terms. Prior to retiring in Ellison Bay with his wife Margot in 2004, Rik was president of Lawrence University in Appleton, a position he held for 25 years. As was so aptly stated in a memorial to Rik, “Humor was second nature to Warch. It was part of his brilliance. If you met him, you knew that. You can see it in photographs, where he and everyone around him are smiling, and you can see he is the source. And you can read it in his writing, which sparkles with lively and humane wit.”

We are presenting here several of his messages delivered at the UU Fellowship of Door County prior to his untimely passing on September 14, 2013. He lives on in our memories.
