During the winter season, noted folk singer Katie Dahl leads Sit-Around-Singing in our Gathering Room. Join us in singing songs that you choose as Katie accompanies us on her guitar.

No prior knowledge of music or songs is required, and people of all ages are welcome. All songs will be chosen and sung out of the group singing songbook Rise Up Singing, which includes 1200 songs ranging from traditional Russian rounds to Bob Dylan songs, to hymns, or to Beatles tunes. Copies of the book will be available to use.

Dahl says the birth of her son, Guthrie, as well as the country’s recent political gridlock, inspired her to start the events. “I wanted Guthrie to grow up knowing these songs, and I wanted him to grow up with the experience of singing in a group. And I’m troubled by the negativity and incivility I see in the country these days. I think singing together could help.”
