The Emerson Series is named for Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882), an essayist, lecturer, poet, and a Unitarian Minister. UUFDC member and well-known music critic, the late Erik Eriksson created the series in March 2002 with the goal of providing low-cost and top-notch cultural programs for the northern Door community.
The Emerson Series offerings have showcased mezzo-soprano Cynthia Stiehl and pianist Judith Jackson, soprano Alisa Jordheim, Czech pianist Radoslav Kvapil, baritone Keith Harris and pianist Ken Bozeman, pianist Kathryn Boyd, flutist Peter Phippen and many other fine programs.
Emerson events are usually held in “off” season (late fall, winter and early spring). A reception with complimentary refreshments follows most performances.
